Health
Department, Chandernagore Municipal Corporation(CMC) has been striving to
provide promotive, preventive and curative health care facility through a
holistic approach, to meet the long standing needs of the community. Our health
care facilities are based on a multidisciplinary approach through center based
and outreach services. Three Urban Primary Health centers (UPHCs) are
functional with state of the art lab and pharmacy to provide diagnostic
facilities and treatment: free of cost; in a patient friendly environment. Two
of the health care centers have been upgraded to Health and Wellness centers (HWC)
with special emphasis on screening of non communicable diseases like Diabetes,
Hypertension and Cancer – Oral, Breast and Cervical. Trained nurses (GNM &ANM) also conduct ante-natal checkups (ANC) for pregnant
women in the UPHCs on a regular basis.Community outreach services are achieved
through Health workers (HHW) and MahilaArogyaSamiti (MAS) by conducting special
outreach camps (SORC), Urban health and nutrition day (UHND) and routine
immunization sessions (RI) at regular intervals. A cold chain point runs 24x7
at the health department of CMC for proper maintenance of vaccines. This
department makes a committed and collective effort to successfully implement
all National Health programmes at the community level, like IPPI, NLEP, NTEP,
VBDCP just to name a few. Thus, we aspire to achieve a healthy community that
is the key to a healthy Nation and will continue to redefine the standards to
meet the health care needs of the region and always challenge new heights.
